Care & Repair take real pride in their Handyperson team that delivers services to more than 7000 older and vulnerable people throughout the county of Northumberland. Due to a promotion, we are looking for a manager for this vital service.
The role involves managing the team and supporting them to deliver the small repairs and adaptations service. You will be confident allocating resources and will work well with others. A key part of the role will be dealing with our service commissioners and other statutory and voluntary agencies.
You will be confident about working with your team to identify improvements in the way the service is delivered and be able to ensure good performance is maintained. You will be organised and comfortable with technological solutions.
Most importantly you will understand the principles of customer focused services.

Your principle duties will include:
• Driving the improvement of existing services and supporting the development /introduction of new services.
• Managing caseloads and allocating staff resources accordingly.
• Supporting a geographically dispersed staff multi disciplinary team including Administrators and Handypersons
• Building meaningful relationships with Commissioners and key external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have:
• Good level of general education – GCSE (or equivalent) passes in Maths and English.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills.
• Experience of working in management capacity in a customer focussed service

We are proud of our Home Improvement Agency service which supports more than 10,000 older and vulnerable people to live in their own homes throughout Durham and Darlington. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Manager who will lead and manage the teams.
You will be expected to run the services within funding available and build productive relationships with our partners and stakeholders. You will be confident about encouraging an innovative approach to developing services and the quality services which are delivered to customers is something that you will be passionate about.
You will report to the Head of Care & Repair and have responsibility for the performance of your team. You will be confident and experienced in working with people to develop them to be able to improve how services are delivered.
You may have gained experience in the housing or care sector but we also welcome applicants with experience in other customer focused services.

Over the next few years the Government are making some wide ranging changes to welfare system. Our organisation already provides high quality support for our tenants around welfare and other benefits, but sees an increasing demand for this support.
To help us navigate through this period, we are looking to recruit a full time Financial Inclusion Officer to working with housing team in Berwick for 15 months.
You will spend a significant amount of your time providing comprehensive welfare benefits advice to tenants. You will provide a debt counselling/household budgeting service to tenants in multiple debts keeping in mind that rent payments to us are a priority debt.
You will need experience of supporting tenants through appeals procedures up to and including tribunal level.
We are looking for a people person, but we need someone who can then translate this into practical help.
You will need to be the kind of person who can support people sensitively to deal with financial confidence, sometimes delivering tough messages; to help you with this you will need to be emotionally resilient when out in the field.
As changes are implemented through the introduction of Universal Credit, you will need to learn about the new benefits system and provide advice and support to our front line housing teams.
You will work closely with our housing teams to identify and resolve accumulation and escalation of debts.
We know that we are asking for a lot, but you will receive a lot in return; you will have the opportunity to shape our Financial Inclusion Service and work with some of the most experienced professionals working in welfare benefits and advice. You will also be supporting people through their difficulties and helping them find a way through some of the most challenging financial times.

With the introduction of the Bedroom Tax and the implementation of Universal Credit due in October 2013, we are looking for 2 people to join our housing team to help us through these changes.
You will help our Income Management Project Team develop new ways to collect our income and to manage debt; although we welcome applicants with experience of the housing sector, we would also welcome applicants from the private sector who have been involved in debt management.
You will be working day to day with our housing teams to learn our current income collection methods.
You will be comfortable and competent working with IT systems which drive income and debt management and be able to understand and interpret data.
We are looking for someone who is process orientated, but who appreciates that our business is about people so you will be able to balance managing debt sensitively but robustly.
You will work alongside Officers from Financial Inclusion team who will support tenants to maximise income but your primary aim will be to ensure that we develop the right systems and process and then implement them to collect income.
As we implement new systems you will get involved in managing debt day to day to ensure that we collect the maximum income possible.
